Hux’s hydration tablets contain a good mix of electrolytes to support your body’s fluid balance. However, at just 116mg per serving they don’t have a lot of sodium compared to other brands. So they may be better suited to general fitness and overall wellness than competitive sportspeople or those engaged in endurance-based sports.

That low sodium level may also make them a good choice if you’re looking to reduce your sodium intake for medical reasons. The recommended dosage is quite small when you look at the amount of water per tablet (Hux recommends two tablets in 200ml water), so this may make it less suitable if you exercise for extended periods and need to fill your whole water bottle.

The tablets are sugar-free and sweetened with sucralose. The lemon and elderflower tablets we tested have a pleasant taste; their flavour was a nice balance of sweet and tangy. We reckon you could dilute them further if you needed more fluid and you’d still retain the flavour.

There are two other flavours to choose from – watermelon and ginger & lemongrass. The tablets dissolve really quickly and completely with no shaking required.

The packaging is convenient as the tablets come in a slim tube to throw in your kit bag. Hux is a new brand that produces a small range of products but focuses on quality ingredients with high potency. The price of its hydration tabs is reasonable at just £7 per tube (that’s 70p a serving), though not the cheapest, and they’re only available online.
